Auriou Hand Stitched Rasps

Some addition to the hand tools side of the shop are hand stitched Rasps from Auriou in France. They have been doing different products in the hand tools business, not just rasps.

I already had the rat tail model in the collection and added the Cabinet maker and modellers rasps to the collection. They are hand stitched. This means the pattern of the different tooth will not repeat. Not as much as if a machine would stamp the came pattern on the blade of the rasp.

Here in Canada, one of the distributor is Lee Valley Tools and they carry different tools from Auriou.

The modellers rasp is a Right hand model of grain 15, 175 mm (7"). The cabinet maker is also a right hand model of grain 10 with a length of 250mm (10"). I did not have too much the chance to experiment with them too much yet. The next few project should put them to good use.

Taking a closer look to the blade, you can really see the hand stitched patterns on the blades of the rasps. The difference of the grain is pretty noticeable.
